If I could own only one Christian CD...
Let's say you are stranded on a desert island. You don't own an iPod, and your solar-powered, but otherwise not so state-of-the-art, MP3 player has room for only one CD. What would it be?
My choice may surprise you.
I have always been a hardcore-kind-of-guy. I've always loved punk music and the energy it gives me, long before I ever listened to Christian music, long before I ever became a Christian. I love Tobymac. I love Underoath.
However, there is one Christian CD that has made more of a difference in my life than any other...
Charmaine - All about Jesus
I first saw Charmaine when she opened for Rebecca St. James in Montreal, which was in fact the very first Christian concert I ever attended. In fact, Charmaine began her career as a back-up singer for Rebecca St. James before she recorded her first album.
Her scripture-based song lyrics always make me focus my thoughts on our Lord because, in particular songs like It's All About You (Jesus, Lover of my Soul).
I bought the CD at the concert in Montreal in 2003 (even got it signed by Charmaine, and it is still my number one favourite album. There are albums I liked better at times, but none have proven as timeless as Charmaine's.
It is a real shame that she never produced any further albums.
